Product Characteristics of Cemented Carbide

Cemented Carbide is a powder metallurgy product sintered from high hardness, refractory metal compound powder (such as WC, TiC, TaC, NbC and other high-temperature carbides) and metal binder (Co, Mo, Ni, etc.). As the composition of Cemented Carbide contains a large number of carbides with high melting point, high hardness and good chemical stability, the hardness, wear resistance and heat resistance of Cemented Carbide are very high. The room temperature hardness of Cemented Carbide is generally 89~93HRA, which is equivalent to 78~82HRC, and the permissible cutting temperature is as high as 800℃~1000℃, and its hardness still remains 77~85HRA even at 540℃, which is equivalent to the room temperature hardness of high-speed steel.

Therefore, the cutting performance of Cemented Carbide is much higher than that of HSS, under the same durability, the cutting speed of Cemented Carbide is allowed to be 4 times to 10 times higher than that of HSS, and the cutting speed can reach more than 100m/min, and it can cut all kinds of hard-to-machine materials, such as hardened steel, that can't be cut by HSS cutting tools. However, due to its low bending strength (about 1/2~1/4 of HSS), impact toughness (about (1/8~1/30) of HSS) and poor workmanship, therefore, at present, Cemented Carbide materials are mainly used in the production of non-intermittent cutting and machining tools with simple edge shape and no impact. When the carbide content in the cemented carbide is high, the hardness is high, but the flexural strength is relatively low; when the binder content is high, the flexural strength is high and the hardness is low. ISO will be divided into P, K and M three categories of cemented carbide, the main component of the three categories of cemented carbide are WC, so collectively known as WC-based cemented carbide.

K class is equivalent to China's tungsten-cobalt cemented carbide, code name YG, mainly composed of WC and Co.

YG type of cemented carbide bending strength and impact toughness are better, suitable for brittle materials processing, can be used for cast iron, non-ferrous metals and their alloys and non-metallic materials processing.YG type of cemented carbide with the increase of cobalt content, its hardness decreases, while the bending strength increases, the ability to withstand the impact of the enhancement of the roughing, suitable for rough machining. On the contrary, the hardness, wear resistance and heat resistance increase, suitable for finishing.

P class is equivalent to China's tungsten, cobalt and titanium cemented carbide, code name YT, its composition in addition to WC and Co, but also contains 5% ~ 30% of TiC, because the hardness and melting point of TiC is higher than WC, so the hardness, wear resistance and heat resistance of such cemented carbides are higher than the YG class, and the bending strength and impact toughness is slightly lower. With the increase of TiC content, the hardness, heat resistance and wear resistance of the material is getting better and better, while the bending strength and impact toughness is reduced.

YT type of cemented carbide can generally be used for high-speed cutting of steel.

M class is equivalent to China's tungsten-titanium-tantalum (niobium) cobalt cemented carbide, codenamed YW class, which is added a certain content of TaC or NbC in the composition of the above cemented carbide in order to improve the high-temperature hardness, high-temperature strength and abrasion resistance of the cemented carbide material.

YW class is characterized by: good overall performance, wide range of applications, can be used for all kinds of cast iron, steel, stainless steel and high temperature alloy processing.

With the continuous emergence of various ultra-fine grain cemented carbide and coated cemented carbide materials, the performance of cemented carbide materials has been greatly improved, and the flexural strength, impact toughness and wear resistance of cemented carbide have been greatly improved, and cemented carbide has also begun to be used in large quantities in the field of complex cutting tools, such as drills, reamers, taps, milling cutters, hobs, and broaches, etc., which have all begun to be made with large quantities of cemented carbide materials.

Our company mainly produces  Carbide Rotary File, Carbide rods, Carbide Scraper Blade,Carbide Corrugated Slitter Knife,Carbide Woodworking Replaceable Blade and other Cemented Carbide products.
